Note: I attended U.S.C. in 1965 and played BB for Frank McGuire in his
1st Year & played Baseball for Roy Cromer. Transferred to Newberry
College in my soph. year

Present Occupation: Mid-Carolina Middle School Teacher

Coach Teal is no stranger to Mid-Carolina High School Athletics. Coach Teal has been the Head Baseball Coach, Head Football Coach, & Head Basketball Coach at Mid-Carolina High School. Coach Teal Coached the M-C Rebels Boys Basketball to the State Championship Game in Class AA and earned the state runner-up and his 1978 team went 22-8.  Coach Teal also coached at Chapin High School, where he was a football coach, head golf coach, and head jv boys basketball coach. Coach Teal has also served as the Head & Asst. MCMS Football Coach over the last few years. Coach Teal’s 05-06 MCMS Boys Basketball Team went a perfect 14-0, which is a MCMS School Record for Wins in a season.
 
Coach Teal resides in Chapin, SC.  Coach Teal has a wife named Sherry and three sons named Trey, Jason, & Brandon.

COACH GORDON EARGLE

Coach Eargle is a Mid-Carolina High School Graduate and a former standout Boys Basketball Player at Mid-Carolina High School. Coach Eargle played for Coach Gene Teal- Former Newberry College Men's Basketball Alumni and the 8th Grade Head Boys Basketball & Head Football Coach & Mid-Carolina Middle School. Coach Eargle was a 3 year Varsity Boys Basketball Player at Mid-Carolina High School. Coach Eargle’s senior season he was named Offensive MVP.
 
Coach Eargle resides in Prosperity, SC with his wife Jackie, and he has two children:  Jaclyn & Eric.

TOMMY BURKE

Tommy Burke is a 2003 Mid-Carolina Honor Graduate.

2003 AA All-State and All-Region, 2003 Region Player of the Year, and a member of the 2003 North vs South Game.  Tommy is also attending Newberry College on a full basketball scholarship. Named to the 2003-2004 South Atlantic Conference All Freshmen Team.

1. Ludy Werts—For dedication @ service to the M-C Boys Basketball Program.

Ludy Werts BIO

Ludy Werts is a June 2nd, 1965 Graduate of Mid-Carolina High School. Ludy served in the US NAVY from June of 1965, to June of 1969. While a part of the US Navy, Ludy served abroad on two ships, The USS Coontz DLG-9 & the USS O’Challhan DE-1051. Ludy served two tours of service in the Vietnam. Ludy was awarded, “The Navy Unit Commendation,” for bravery under fire in hostile waters, in 1966 & 1967.
Ludy has worked for the Newberry Elec. Coop., for 37 years. Ludy Werts has served M-C HS Football & Basketball Program for 34 years. Ludy Werts is a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Ludy is a volunteer at the American Red Cross in Columbia, SC. Ludy is also, a member of the St. Philips Fire Dept., for 30 years. Ludy Werts received the lifetime achievement award in football from the Newberry County Touchdown Club.

Ludy has also run the scoreclock at Newberry High School, Newberry College, Lander Univ., The Colonial Center in Columbia, SC for USC, Swansea High School, and Batesburg Leesville High School. Ludy is famous at M-C HS Boys Basketball for giving CPR to two heart attack victims. One of the victims, is former head boys basketball coach, Ken Long, in 1983.

Additional Information: Charles is a lifetime MC Rebel. Charles still announces the Mid-Carolina Varsity Baseball Games and is an active member of the MC Booster Club. Charles wife, Sherry Bedenbaugh is the Varsity MC Rebels Cheerleading Coach.
